I am writing this blog outside. OUTSIDE! We’ve made it a couple weeks into March, and though that glorious snow fall was a mere eight days ago, today I am outside, in a t-shirt (and scarf), sipping ice coffee and breathing in the fresh air. Without simply listing the many, many reasons why spring’s arrival is wonderful (sandals, patio margaritas, sleeping with the windows open), I’m focusing these days on the general mood shift I’ve noticed. Surely the warm air allows people to walk with their heads held high (no need to constantly be on the look out for ice) and encourages friends to sit outside and laugh loudly (instead of using “inside voices” as to not distract those working on laptops). It’s the season of aimless walking and porch BBQs, of long weekends at the beach and second-cousins’ weddings. And most importantly it’s the season of pops, the return of our seasonal favorites like Watermelon Mint and Peach Hibiscus and the time to try out something new (Strawberry Balsamic, anyone?) Even Ben, the dog, is celebrating with a puppy pop!
Starting April 2nd, we’ll be back at our three weekly farmers’ markets: by the White House every Thursday from 11:00am-2:00pm, in Mount Pleasant every Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm and in DuPont Circle every Sunday from 8:30am-1:30pm. We’re so pumped to be back at the farmers’ markets. Come say hi and try out a new, deliciously flavorful pop soon!
Finally, our summer catering calendar is booking up quickly! So if you have a wedding, Bar-Mitzvah, baby naming, or any other party that would be made that much better with some pops, visit our catering page and get in touch soon!
