This week's blog post was supposed to be about holiday gifts at Pleasant Pops. But, this past Saturday, President Obama came by our Adams Morgan shop as part of Small Business Saturday. It's been a lifelong dream for us to have the President of the United States come by especially because I worked for his campaign for a year and a half as my first job out of college. We've gotten a bunch of media attention about his visit and I've heard a lot of questions so here are the fun facts about the visit.
Q: Did you know ahead of time?
A: Nope, we only found out from the Secret Service 5 minutes before
Q: What did he order?
A: A Strawberry Ginger Lemonade pop. Sasha and Malia got Carolyn's Cookies and Cream and Cranberry Apple pops.
Q: Was it crazy?
A: The store already was full and then you add in a ton of photographers and reporters and secret service agents and the first family and yes it was a little crazy.
Q: Why did the President pick Pleasant Pops?
A: We don't know but we are sure happy that he did. Maybe locally sourced fresh fruit ice pop/ coffee shops are the next FroYo. If you helped make this happen, thanks!
And also about holiday gifts...we are full of holiday gifts this time of year and will bring you more here on our blog about gifts in the weeks to come. We just got in the delicious Holiday blend from Ceremony Coffee and are churning out our homemade hot chocolate pops which are the perfect stocking stuffer.
We also just made up our first holiday gift bundles of the season which are now on sale at both of our locations and we are of course selling gift tokens (our wooden nickel equivalent of gift cards) which are a perfect gift for any Pleasant Pops regular.
